ABOUT SAMANTHA

SAMANTHA SENEVIRATNE is a baker, cookbook author, food editor, food stylist, recipe developer, television personality, and culinary host. She started her career as a food editor at Good Housekeeping. From there she became Fine Cooking’s food stylist, and then moved on to Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food, where she developed recipes, made food look pretty, and wrote about it too.   

Since going out on her own, Sam has been writing cookbooks, appearing on television, and sharing her recipes with an engaged audience via social media. Her most recent book, Bake Smart, was selected as one of the best cookbooks of 2023 by The New York Times. Her last book, The Joys of Baking, was selected as one of the best baking cookbooks of 2019 by The New York Times, and her first book, The New Sugar & Spice, was nominated for a 2016 James Beard Award. Her blog, Love, Cake, was nominated for a 2015 Saveur Food Blog Award. 

Sam is a regular contributor to The New York Times, a food stylist for editorial, advertising, and video clients, and an on-camera host and judge. You can see her on Magnolia Network's Everyday Cooking (streaming now on Discovery Plus and Max), Food52's Cook and a Half, and Food Network's Unchoppable. She's also been a guest on Chopped: SweetsBeat Bobby Flay, Girl Scout Cooking ChampionshipThe Kitchen, and Martha Bakes. She also hosts a new show with Buddy Valastro called Cookie, Cupcake, Cake for A&E (coming soon).

Sam lives in Brooklyn with her favorite sweet, her son Artie.
